The Terrebonne's center is now a very active training center for internships hosting students who seek a challenging coaching environment that will allow them to gain work experience.
These courses allow students to practice hands on experiences consolidating their gains and skills of practices related to the clinical functions implemented in the center.
Students have the opportunity to be actively involved on a daily basis while developing their knowledge skills and a helping relationship with the clientele.
The internship is also an opportunity to integrate the clinical team and work with various professionals throughout their internship while respecting the ethical rules specific to the profession.
Every year since 2010, the center has hosted over a dozen college graduate trainees mainly from the following programs:
- Special education techniques, intervention and delinquency
- Certificate of addiction and social work.
In 2014, the very first students from medical school were welcomed as part of a short internship aimed at their immersion within the community in collaboration with the University of Montreal. As this experience has been promising and successful thus far, this modality will be maintained and offered at Dianova. An internship sponsor supervises the student according to the requisites for the internship required by the school of reference. Typically, it resembles as follows:
- Supervision adapted to the trainee fields of study (1.5 hours)
- Semi-annual on-site supervision in cooperation with the assessor of the school of reference (1.5 hours)
- Ad hoc assistance as needed
- The internship plans are based on a rotation of internal training activities put forth by members of the clinical team
Several international trainees have also benefited from this internship structure which has the benefit of allowing for the organization of on-site accommodation (ex: work placements as part of dual training in France).
In addition, the center of Terrebonne is accessible by public transport with a bus stop at the entrance of the property. The center is located and 90 minutes from Montreal by public transport and 30 minutes by car.
